What is a SMTP(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server?

Simple Mail Transport Protocol is used to send mail through TCP/IP. The service built by this protocol is called SMTP. The role of the SMTP server is performed by sendmail on Unix/Linux and sendmail performs mail service on port number 25 while operating the daemons.

What is SENDMAIL?

BSD is a message transport agent (MTA) which is used to send mails on a TCP/IP while using a SMTP protocol.

The SMTP server delivers data to other SMTP servers when you actually send mail from @MESSAGE. The SMTP server may be the @MESSAGE server or a SMTP server in another external location.

If the SMTP server @MESSAGE runs on is down and are need to send immediately, and there is no way to make a contact with the sysop, you can send a mail by setting your SMTP to another SMTP server. If you want to set to the SMTP server back to the original server, click on [Local SMTP Server] and click the [Save] button. SMTP server may be set to SMTP server name or an IP address.

As most relays are blocked, sometimes you can't use SMTP server outside. When you are checking if there is another SMTP server in your network where @MESSAGE is installed, it is recommended that you take record this information for future information.
